Membership
One becomes a member by attending events hosted by the club, which may include (but are not limited to) seminars, study sessions, local outreach events, and meetings. In order to identify members, the executive board maintains a list of currently active members. WIM tries to take part in volunteering opportunities throughout the year, i.e. tutoring, so possibilities for philanthropic involvement are also discussed. We also do some sort of game/activity to let people mingle and meet other women in the club.
Seminars
Seminars are held about once or twice per semester and refreshments are provided. The typical speaker is a female math professor or a female working in the mathematics field. The speaker usually discusses their past and how they ended up where they are today and goes into detail about their research and work. Questions from the audience are always welcome and these are good opportunities to figure out where you might want to take your mathematics degree in the future.
T-Shirts
WIM has t-shirts that can be bought. To purchase a t-shirt, you can contact the board.
Study Nights
WIM puts on study nights on a regular basis of about once or twice a month. These take place in the upper atrium of the Mathematic Department in East Hall. Refreshments and snacks are served and this is a good place to get help on homework and meet people in your classes.
